Release Notes - New eMedix Online Support

We are happy to announce the new support of eMedix Online. All clients now have the ability to submit electronic (professional) claims to eMedix immediately. This process will speed up the response from the payer. (NOTE: Actual response time continues to depend on the payer processing and replying to claims. Please refer to your eMedix Online account for full tracking information).

The new support will affect all ways you can submit claims. The changes will apply to the following areas:

Important Information About Claims

Claim Submission Type

There is some important information about claims that must be reiterated for all clients to explain the new way the eMedix online functions will work.

The three different types of claims are printed forms (of various kinds), electronic professional claims, and electronic institutional claims. Each of these methods have different rules, but most of those rules are set in the pre-established insurance settings. The main idea is to use the method chosen by the user in the Encounter Menu . However, some insurances will only allow certain methods, and attachments will force claims to be printed. For this reason, we've added a new column to the Encounter Review and Timely Filing to show the actual method. The column name is labeled E/P. "E" is for electronic and "P" is for paper.

Submitting Claims

Submitting claims fall into two situations, the first being for paper and institutional claims being prepared for later processing, and the second for professional electronic claims being sent directly to eMedix.

To post claims the “post selected” and “post all” buttons will continue to be used. Once the claims have been selected and one of the post buttons has been clicked the claims with go into an “Added to Queue” status. This status means that the claims have been added to the queue to be processed. Paper and Institutional claims will be processed overnight under the normal process. Electronic professional claims will be processed and sent to eMedix.

The processing of the electronic professional claims is complete when the claims disappear from the encounter review screen. The page will not refresh automatically. The refresh button located at the top right of the encounter review screen can be clicked. This will refresh the page and remove the claims that have been processed. The same function can be accomplished by closing and reopening the encounter review screen.
